The Internet of Things (IoT) is a new dimension of the Internet that is likely to change our lifestyle. Internet has connected not only the people, but also with the view of connecting the things which are likely to make superior communication and intelligence. IoT is a trending technology that has tremendous amount of energy to change the world and our lifestyle. It’s a cost efficient technology, which uses cost efficient devices and sensors which creates a wide range of opportunities. The ideology of IoT in the automotive sector has been theoretically explained in the past decades and today we are dealing with the possibilities of IoT in Connected cars, Self-driving vehicles and the application of IoT in the vehicles like Auto Parking systems, Vehicle assist, Self-diagnostics. This paper primarily focuses on the advancements and evolution of the Internet of Things in the automotive business to provide an outlook on the various areas such as Connected Cars, IoT in Smart Transportation and Next Generation Cars, where lot of advancements and technical improvements is being made.
