Indian history has been a vibrant record of conflicts and dialectics between two opposite forces like the exploiters and the exploited, the colonizers and the colonized, and the powerful and the powerless. Aim of this paper is to portray and suggest Self-Efficacy as an efficient psychological tool that can be used by the dalits as it helps them to move from the periphery to the fore front. It is the self-efficacy in the writers that strengthens dalit literature and dalit empowerment. Bama’s autobiographical work Karukku is an epitome of self-efficacy. It also tries to find out, how self-efficacy have made Bama to rise from the oppressed state and helped her to achieve an important position in the society as a successful writer.
