Reliability Function of System Failure Time's Bounds Estimation Using Type I Censored Data

Abstract

The goal of this paper is to use Bayes approach to predict lower and upper bounds for life time (failure time) of system components (machines for example) according to Weibull distribution probability function. The prediction of failure times for some (or all) the remaining units (not failed) in the sample, that are orderednkk,,2,1++, will be considered in one case: the shape parameter c is known and the scale parameter α is unknown. The prediction bounds necessary equations are derived, and because of the sufficient flexibility offered by Particular Swarm Optimization (PSO) method, we used it to solve and approximate the prediction bounds equations. Simulation results show that the proposed PSO based prediction bounds approach provides accurate estimates and satisfactory for lower and upper bounds prediction.
