The managerial talent has the power to drive economy forward. As the business world is filled with challenges and risks, the purpose of management education is to prepare students thoroughly to face these challenges and take the risk by the horn. To be successful in their career the management students should possess some specific skills and abilities. But it is matter of concern regarding whether the management students possess these skills. Management education is basically a service. Quality of a service is difficult to measure in comparison to products due to the fact that services are intangible. The specific characteristics of services such as intangibility, inseparability, heterogeneity and perishability make it difficult to assess their quality. In management education, the quality would largely depend on skills acquired by the students. Thus, there is a need to assess the same. In this backdrop, an attempt is made to map the competencies of students in management education. The present study covers management students of who are studying in ten districts in Telangana State. The sample selected based on connivance sampling method and it comprise of 443 (According to the Cochran’s (1977) which is more than the minimum sample required.) management students of Government and private institutions located in Telangana state. The study reveals that the management students are showing interest in traditional teaching and they are giving value to teacher views and the generis, managerial, general, Meta and functional competencies are must for the management graduates to get employable early.
