A country trying to achieve Millennium Development Goals, as defined by United Nations, is an indication of sustainable development. The present study investigates into the Corporate Social Responsibility activities of public sector companies in India, especially the Navratna companies, to understand whether they are following the guidelines as set forth by the Companies Act 2013. The annual report of four companies coming under Navratna, for the past 7 years was analyzed for this purpose. The study concludes that all the companies are in sustainable mode, as for their Corporate Social Responsibility activities are concerned, and also that the Corporate Social Responsibility activities are in line with the Millennium Development Goals.
