This paper describes a technology for automatically assembling large software libraries which promote software reuse by helping the user locate the components closest to her/his needs. The paper closes with speculation on where the future of information retrieval lies. Prerequisite of such a study and a main contribution of the paper is a unifying survey of the research field. The techniques most commonly used to access this day include those from the field of information retrieval (IR), sometimes called search. IR is the field concerned with the acquisition, organization, and searching of knowledge-based information. Comments are one of the first kinds of user-generated web content, and virtually all types of items are commented, be them texts, images, songs, videos, products, ideas or personal profiles. Comment boards have not changed much since their debut in web-based guest books. Their very purpose is to collect user feedback, but they provide practical value to visitors as well.
