IT& ITES industry plays an important role in Indian economy, particularly in employment generation and earning foreign exchange. But, in any organization, the success depends on the effective utilization and successful management of the Human Resources. But this industry has faced lot of issues in handling their human resources. HRM Policies & Practices in every organization controls a variety of influential tools, through which it can influence an employee attitude and behavior. This is more significant because ITES-BPO industry is a people-intensive industry as well as technology enabled and the employee is a basic resource for the organization. Lack of employee commitment, mismatch of employee and management expectations with regard to measures on performance, rewards and motivation are found to be main issues effecting ITES Industry. A number of constraints, challenges are already emerging and questions are raised on the sustainability of the rapid growth demonstrated by the industry in the past, projected shortage of employees, high turnover rates, increasing mergers and acquisitions that are leading to ITES industry consolidation. In this juncture the researcher has studied the influence of demographic factors such as gender, age, marital status, and qualification, type of company, work hours, work experience and monthly income on recruitment and selection of employees in IT & ITES industry in Visakhapatnam District of Andhra Pradesh. And the finding indicated that four independent variables namely marital status, type of company, work experience and monthly income are influencing recruitment & selection.
