P.V.S. Aditya and A. Ananthichristy
Abstract

Designing a multilevel inverter with different configurations of reduced switch count plays a vital in power industry. The primary aim of the designing a Multi level inverters with different configurations of reduced switch count makes smooth operations with high efficiency in different applications such as variable speed drives, high voltage generators etc. These configurations are not only generating higher voltage levels to improve the quality of output but also to reduce the total harmonic distortion values This paper presents the review on reduced switch count for various multilevel inverter topologies and pulse width modulation techniques carried out elsewhere in the world. Also, this paper discusses the a detailed analysis of the recently developed MLI topologies are reported based on three major categories such as symmetric, asymmetric and hybrid configurations. All these studies discussed in this paper employed Simulation Using SIMULINK /MATLAB.
