This paper examines the essence and describes the key characteristics of international investment risks in a climate of investment globalism. The study‟s purpose is to analyze the international characteristics of the use of risk management as a tool for the stewardship of economic security in conducting investment activity. Based on a summarization of multinational corporations‟ investment experience, the authors identify a set of key paradigms for risk management in historical perspective. The study‟s findings lead the authors to conclude that globalism has altered the economic nature of international investment risks. For foreign investment to be put to effective use, the nation needs to create the right conditions that would prevent the emergence of risky situations fraught with revenue loss and would ensure the development of, above all, domestic enterprises. In this regard, this study can be viewed as socially significant, as its findings are material to the interests of a wide group of persons interested in boosts in Russia‟s investment attractiveness.
