The goal of the project is to explore an algorithm that replaces a face in an image with another face. First, the algorithm detects faces in the image. Second, the algorithm chooses a candidate image from the database based on the it’s similarity with the input face on appearance and pose. Third, the algorithm adjusts the orientation, pose, lighting, and color of the candidate face to match the original face. Finally, the algorithm adjusts the boundary of the candidate face to blend into the original face. The main application of the face swapping algorithm is to address online privacy issue by protecting people’s faces in Google Maps street view and other online photos.
