Abstract

Electro Discharge Machining (EDM) is now acknowledge being advanced technology to ensure less surface roughness(SR) and high material removal rate(MRR) throughout machining of LM 25-Al-10% SiC Metal Matrix Composite (MMC) will be manufacture through stir casting method and the size of rectangular work piece is 120mm x 120mm x 8mm dimensions. In this work we proposes an experimental investigation of a full factorial design performed on aluminum composite material by using EDM process by varying the input parameters such as Current , Pulse On Time , Pulse Off Time , Voltage, Spark gap and Oil Pressure and the output parameters includes SR and MRR. Methodology used is the multi objective optimization using Minitab software to find the optimum cutting conditions for defect free machining. Experimental data collected and test will be done by the prediction tools. Output parameters are SR and MRR of the machined components on completion of the experimental test and prediction tools are used to validate the results obtained and also to predict the system behavior under any condition with in the operating range.
