Abstract

A Planar inverted-F Antenna (PIFA) of compact size is designed for RF energy harvesting applications. The designed antenna resonates in GSM receiving band (940Mhz to 960Mhz). The antenna compactness is attained by fixing the height and width to 5mm and 40mm respectively. The copper patch of 0.01mm thickness printed on fr4 substrate is used as radiating element. Air gap and fr4 substrate are used as dielectric medium between radiating and ground plane. The resonance and performance of the designed antenna is depends on the shorting and feeding strips. Ansys HFSS v.13 is used to simulate and optimized the value of shorting and feeding strip. The proposed antenna have good return loss (S11) of -20 dB for 950Mhz and Gain of 5.9 dB to its credit.
