In the present paper, a reliability model is developed for a system with temperature-dependent working and variable payment for major faults. System has been considered under the environment having such temperature that requires air conditioner for its working. The failure may be of two types i.e. major or minor. The type of failure is revealed by carrying out an inspection on failure. If it fails during night hours, then major failure may not be repairable during that time, however, minor failure such as electric fuse repair easily possible in night hours also. In case of major failure, two possibilities have been considered waiting for repair till morning and doing repair on making additional payment for the heavy parts in case of urgency. It is assumed that the system does not remain functional when temperature is beyond 22ºC and thus value has been taken on the basis of information gathered from fabric manufacturing company in India. Various performability measures and then cost-benefit analysis has been carried out.
