Abstract

A compact Ultra-Wideband (UWB) antenna comprising of three Complementary Ring Slots (CRS) and Defected Ground Structure (DGS) is proposed. The circular patch of the proposed design consists of three CRS slot mounted on E-shaped slots, which forms the radiating part of antenna. The antenna has a DGS which helps in achieving good impedance match throughout the operating range of ultra-wide bandwidth. The designed antenna is energized by utilizing a microstrip line of 50 ohms. The designed UWB antenna exhibits better impedance matching with a -10dB fractional bandwidth of 150% (1.42-10.14 GHz), with 5.8 GHz center and operating at four frequency 1.9/4.0/5.8 and 8.6 GHz. The proposed structure has a compact dimension of 30×30×1.6 mm3 which can easily be installed/integrated with any wireless portable devices.
