Fractional State Feedback Controller for a Non-Interacting Coupled Tank System

Abstract

A coupled tank system consists of two or more similar or dissimilar tanks connected in cascade. In this paper, the level control problem of two cylindrical tanks coupled in non interacting mode was considered. State feedback control with fractional-[]PIαwas newly proposed for the coupled tank system. Tuning of the control parameters was done using frequency domain specifications. The proposed controller’s performance was compared with other controllers. Comparison of time domain specifications like rise time and peak overshoot indicated the better performance of the proposed controller.
