The Review of Ternary Base Application for Adaptation in ECC

Abstract

Scalar multiplication is the main operation in elliptic curve cryptography (ECC). There are many researches involving scalar multiplication in order to improve performance of ECC. Most of the research use binary base before converting into new representation. This paper study the existing applications that used ternary presentation and analyze the performance effect of it. The main purpose of this study is to find out whether ternary method can help to increase multiplication performance in scalar by studying results of existing application. The results shows that ternary provide advantages in terms of performance and also the length of the scalar is much shorter compared to binary and it will gives better performance in computation if implement in ECC.
