An Analysis of Price Sensitivity of Smart Phone Purchase in India

Abstract

The usage of smart phone is so prominent that the usage is evident in all the areas. Smart phone users feel that just by carrying a smart phone with them enhances intellect and behavior change in every environment and carrying a lot of apps in our smart phones can many a times enable them act positively. Though the smart phones have become an integral part of people’s life but the smart phones are procured at a price. The paper aims to study the impact of price on the purchase of a smart phone. The data was collected from a sample of 1494 respondent who has bought smart phone. It was found that the Indian consumers are price sensitive while buying a smart phone. However the study revealed that the consumers may not switch to a basic phone but the clearly indicated that they may switch to other cheaper smart phone or they will switch to other smart phone brands. Therefore it is clearly indicated that price is a very sensitive issue for Indian consumers while using a smart phone.
