Abstract

The today’s increasingly developing information society features a rather unique social and cultural crossroad. The society has never been so much dependent on technology and its various branches and forms. To a certain degree, technologies (e.g., email, the Internet, online banking, digital music, etc.) have impact on almost every aspect of our daily life. This dependence and, to some extent, dependence on technologies have had a wavelike effect on other less obvious areas of the society (Rogers, 2003).One of these areas is public relations in drug marketing. They are affected by the sale of synthetically created special drugs by criminals.Thesedrugs cause fatal consequences for people. The analysis of the drug situation in the Russian Federation and the results of activities performed by the law enforcement on counteractingillicit traffic of narcotic drugs shows that the rapidly developing external drug expansion and the high level of drug addiction in the society continue directlythreatening the country’s national security. Taking into account the wide use of noncontact methods of drug marketing by drug dealers, investigators have faced the need to thoroughly study action plans for obtaining digital evidences. Therefore, the authors have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to efficiently investigate the above crimes committed by using the information technology networks without mastering the relevant criminalistic techniques for using digital evidences by investigators based on the analysis, generalization, and systematization of the best practices. At the same time, unfortunately, it is necessary to admit that to a certain degree it is difficult to impellent it due to a considerable number of theoretical issues that have not yet been resolved: how to get the required information about the activities of a criminal group that use anonymous accounts and proxies when selling drugs, communication between themselves, and actions to hide the traces of a crime. The authors have given answers to these questions in their study and provided a universal action plan for exposing the entire criminal web.
