Global economy in the present era is threatened by several economic issues that have come to the for front. These issues are poverty across the world, structural imbalance, global financial crisis and global warming. Among all these issues, the issue of global warming has attracted the attention of the scientist, economists and government of all the countries. Several effects of global warming, including steady sea level rise, increased cyclonic activity, and changes in ambient temperature and precipitation patterns, have affected India. Ongoing sea level rises have submerged several lowlying islands in the Sundarbans, displacing thousands of people. Temperature rises on the Tibetan Plateau, which are causing Himalayan glaciers to retreat.This issue has been highly debated and further needs attention, discussion and study. In this paper besides touching technical aspects of global warming, its causes, an attempt has been made to highlight the likely impact of global warming overall on the world and especially in India and to discuss the strategies to find the solutions to this serious problem.
