Abstract

Our foot health is much essential to maintain good body health. It is important to measure the amount of pressure that is being applied by the foot and the temperature/humidity around it for the detection and prevention of foot ulcers in diabetic patients. The feet of the diabetic patients must be regularly monitored to avoid any complications that are caused due to foot ulcers. Statistics show that 15% of diabetic patients develop ulcers in their feet, more than half of them will get infected and more than 85% of them lead to foot amputation. Here we design a system to monitor diabetic feet to detect the formation of ulcers at earlier stage itself. This system contains an insole that has pressure and temperature/humidity sensors placed in critical contact areas to collect the data of pressure, temperature and humidity simultaneously. It also contains a vibration sensor module to give feedback of logic high when the values reach the threshold point. An SMS notification will be sent to the doctor and the diabetic person when values reach the threshold point.
