Clustering and Coverage Using Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) Optimization in Heterogeneous WSN (HWSN)

K. Johny Elma and S. Meenakshi

In HWSN, coverage and connectivity is considered as the most important issue. Coverage and connectivity is measured as a quality of service. To widen coverage in HWSN, we propose clustering and coverage using ABC optimization (CC-ABCO) algorithm in this paper. As a heterogeneous condition, we have different sensing range and energy for each node. In CC-ABCO, nodes are deployed in the sensing field and divided into clusters by cluster formation method, Active nodes are selected from the cluster by fitness based active set selection. Thus we maximize network lifetime and minimize energy utilization. By simulation outcomes, it has been proved that CCABCO enhances the coverage and reduced energy consumption.
