Abstract

This article is based on the inter-disciplinary research on the use of scientific and engineering methods in the field of law and justice. In this article, which is based on the research study conducted by the authors, researchers have explored the scope of application of engineering science and technology under the umbrella of Indian laws in specific reference to criminal investigation. A thought provoking question often arises, that, can we ensure the justice by detection of crimes without using the science and technology if laws are silent on its application? Answer is obvious, no. we can‟t. Therefore, to ensure the speedy justice to the victims, it is the need of the time to induct the science and technology in the field of law and justice on urgent basis. This article also focuses on this question that if forensic Science Laboratories in India are not accessible to each and every town, what scientific and engineering methods and techniques we can use extensively by using the laboratories of colleges and Universities? There can be no justice without using science and technology in the criminal investigation and court rooms.
