The article accentuates housing condition and renovation program expediency in Russia. Foreign and local housing renovation experiences are considered. Elimination of hazardous, dilapidated housing will remain relevant for many years (impossible to relocate citizens quickly). The authors examine environmental issues (housing, plot compliance to environmental standards) and waste disposal problems. They give recommendations for solving economic issues within renovation programs. Efficiency of renovation projects depends on the state control, regulatory framework in urban planning, and regulatory support to them.
