Abstract

Blockchain technology is a globally accepted looming technology introduced by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008.Initially it was used as decentralized, distributed ledger for recording transactions of the cryptocurrency, Bitcoin. Lately it has gained attention in various fields like healthcare, financial sectors, education, agriculture etc. due to its unique features. In this paper, we are trying to explore the benefits that can be made by blockchain technology in the field of education. One of the serious problems we are addressing here is certificate verification. An individual needs to submit his/her certificates while joining for a job or higher education. Here, blockchain can be used to store academic certificates so that the process of certificate management and verification becomes easier. Through this we can also avoid bogus creation of academic certificates.
