A pH-sensitive indicator bromocresol purple is immobilized in sol-gel membrane. Inorganic silicate precursor tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) is utilized during experiments. Photochemistry and photophysics of indicator dye are investigated and immobilization parameters proposed. The prepared doped silica films have shown stable and reproducible signal to pH change of solutions in a wide range.
