Climate changes, Global warming, ever increasing energy prices, Energy demand and blackouts paved a path to Energy Conservation. In this paper a measure to save energy and an attempt of Energy audit has been made at Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore. The significance and the process involved in energy auditing are presented in detail. A survey of power consumption in Academic blocks 1, 2 and 3 were carried out. As a preliminary step of conduction of audit, the prime importance is given for mostly used appliances. So an audit was conducted for light loads consisting of lights and fans to know the energy and money consumption. The results through these activities were documented and analysed suggesting cost effective measures and automation model to reduce energy consumption which directs us to the energy conservation.
