Steganography is concealment of the secret/confidential information in the cover medium, without making any visible changes to the cover. The cover medium can be any one out of images, text, audio or video. The various image steganographic techniques which are taken into consideration are spatial domain, spread spectrum, transform domain, statistical methods and distortion techniques. The challenge while taking the image as the cover medium is the robustness, undetectability and embedded payload. The paper focuses on the comparative study of different techniques of steganography taking image as the cover medium. The comparison between the techniques is based on certain parameters such as peak signal to noise ratio, imperceptibility, robustness and payload embedded.
