The education policies of the government are to bring about improvements in facilitating quality education. They have a direct and broad effect on institutions. Designing of various schemes and implementation through academic, administrative and financial support has contributed to the development of Indian higher education. However, there is a fear exist among the nation to achieve the sustainable goals, considering the student population, industry revolution and technology disruption. The academic institutions are not in a position to predict the stability of future requirement and forced to make revisions and reforms. The role of the government in developing higher education through polices and plans are reviewed with a special mentioning of new education policy.
