Antenna array synthesis can be done in effective manner using nature inspired algorithms of modified differential evolution (MDE) and traditional differential evolution (DE). MDE is high performance evolutionary algorithms. These techniques are applied to optimize both symmetric and asymmetric amplitude excitations of the linear uniformly spaced array for controlled side lobe level and nulls at specified direction. The performance of two algorithms compared at defining the side lobes and nulls of considered array based on designed example. The results obtained using the nature inspired techniques are compared with the uniformly excited array configuration. Both of the nature inspired techniques are successful in side lobe suppression and null control, but the MDE method shows better robustness and efficiency over the traditional DE technique.
