Poverty alleviation and women empowerment will lead to economic development of any nation. India is not an exception to this. In order to reduce poverty and empowering women, self help groups are promoted. In this study an attempt has been made to ascertain impact of self help groups on women empowerment at Ernakulam district of Kerala. The results of the study disclosed that women self help group members are economically, politically and socially empowered after joining the self help group.
