Effect of Acid Mine Water on Hydrochemical Groundwater in Cempaka, Banjarbaru District, South Kalimantan, Indonesia


Cempaka City in the on of Banjarbaru is the famous for producing of the diamond and gold mining in South Kalimantan. The affet of acid mine water can occur naturally when sulfide minerals are exposed to oxidation conditions. There are 3 influential factors. Oxidation reaction of mine rock residues rich in sulphide minerals, especially pyrite (FeS2) and headquarters by water and oxygen catalyzed by iron and sulfur oxidizing bacteria, such as Thiobacillus ferrooxidans, Ferroplasma acidarmanus, and Leptospirillum ferrooxidans. Acid mine water (AAT) from various mining centers usually has high acidity and metal concentrations, the application of lime has proven to be an efficient AAT treatment. For oxidizing and removing ferrous iron, a natural Fe-oxidation lagoon (NFOL) is added before processing with limestone.The parameter test in this research activity is only determined by a few chemical elements. The parameters include H20, KCl, Ca, Mg, K, Na, Al, and H. The results of the analysis in the laboratory are used as measurement data. Based onthe results of chemical analysis, can be used to determine the impact of open mining on ground water quality around the study. Chemical analysis results,then correlated with surface runoff or deep groundwater analysis.
