The Meaning of Happiness in a Small Community:The Case of Banjar in Sanur, Bali

This study seeks to analyze the meaning of individual happiness in a small community. Banjar is a small community in Bali that consists of several individuals. It is thus interesting to study Banjar Dangin Peken’s meaning of happiness because the community has existed since the 1100s and therefore adhere to specific values in defining happiness. The study finds that the happiness of individuals who join Banjar Dangin Peken is communal and a form of a social construct. The results confirm that the meaning of their happiness is an adaptation in a social construction.
