Abstract

In this paper, a Korean Braille is implemented by using a reduced keyboard system which is consisted by 5 number keys and 2 special function keys. The reduced keyboard system replaces 20 input buttons into 7 buttons to insert Korean characters and numbers. The Korean braille system is implemented by using Arduino with LED matrix to represent the Korean braille. It is shown that the developed Braille system reduces the complexity of the inserting the Korean character for the severely disabled. The system can be used by mobile phone by connecting with Bluetooth.
