Abstract

The idea of the paper is to develop a home safety environment for elder people with disabilities to live independently in their own home. They can get help when they are needed using the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time bound) home network. In a volatile health situation, the elder people may not be able to speak or move. This device will have a Panic button to send data to near and dears on their Wireless Medium and start an audio alert to inform the neighbours to help them. The heart rate monitoring and temperature monitoring system is the enhanced feature of this work. This maintains a medical history of the user and thereby assists the doctor to take action if any unusual case is suspected. The design of the system consists of a tri-axial accelerometer sensor and a RF module that embedded in the handheld device with smart switch. If a fall is suspected, a notification is raised to require the user’s response. If the user is injured hardly and cannot respond in time, the system immediately sends an alarm message to the pre-specified guardian or Healthcare unit via wireless communication. It might be a difficult task for the aged people to bounce again to fetch remotes for different applications such as TV, House Lighting, and so on. Hence this device would be able to assist them to perform their desired task. The device has small menu to control the appliances through wireless communication. In this work, we have summarized the state of SMART home networks technologies, tools, and techniques. This work helps them and feels them good in home environment.
