Abstract

The problems of power quality are majorly concerned with change of current or voltage from its ideal signals. This change is called as harmonics which occurs due to the switching power semiconductor devices. These devices are plays a major role in higher pulse power switching devices. These devices utilized for power conversion may inject harmonics that lead to power quality issues. In order to improve the power quality of these devices, higher pulses AD-DC converters are developed. In this article, 12 pulse and 24 pulse AC-DC power converter fed constant current source load with and without output filter is consider for study and harmonics analysis. The harmonics effect of higher pulse converters is validated at various operating conditions by developing the MATLAB/Simulink model. The results are presented to show the proficient of the 24 pulse AC-DC power converter in comparison with 12 pulse converter.
