Abstract

Now a days, road accidents have been increased rapidly. These accidents could be happen due to fast driving and driver drowsiness. As the drivers are driving for long time, the drowsiness is the main cause for road accidents. The increasing number of road accidents is caused due to disorder in sleep. More than thirty percent of accidents on road were happen because of driver drowsiness. For reducing road accidents, caused due to fatigue there is a need to build up a framework which assists to detect the level of fatigue. This paper mainly deals with detecting drowsiness through facial landmarks such as eyes, mouth and so on hence proposing a method which consists of a webcam that continuously observes the eyes of a driver and notices that the driver is in a sleepy state or in a normal state. In the event that the technique identifies the driver feeling drowsy then an alert is generated in the form of audio fileor a message is generated to the corresponding driver's mobile based on the driver's behaviour to prevent the accidents. The framework mostly analyses the drowsiness based on the driver behaviour by using Eye Aspect Ratio (EAR)and Mouth Aspect Ratio(MAR).
