Comparison of Cuckoo Search and Sliding Mode Control MPPT techniques for Solar Modules

The article reviews the role of two distinctive Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) approaches: The Cuckoo Search (CS) and Sliding Mode Control (SMC), adopted to solar modules. The idea of CS is highlighted with the importance of the Lévy flight in regulating the convergence of CS technique. The planning of SMC is, developing a sliding surface to confirm the MPP. This article compares the performance of CS and SMC techniques with respect to implementation type, fast response to insolation changes, percentage of error and settling time. Simulations of these methods have been performed using MATLAB and the main results are conferred.
