A Novel Approach of Transmission Loss Allocation

Abstract

In a power system transmission loss allocation due to loads and generators speaks on major two situations. Due to its non-linear nature and complexity, obtaining a solution in power systems is of tough and high risk. Firstly, accountability in identification of power flow from a particular generator to load through a line. Secondly, non-linear nature of losses is to be considered. Linearization techniques fail to satisfy the allocating the flow of a particular generator to a desired load. Direct loss allocation to generators and loads is not convincible to the existing cross terms in quadratic loss functions. The proposed paper deals with an adoptive technique for reduction of complexity in allocation of losses among generators and loads. The results are obtained on a IEEE 14 bus system and are compared with various methods (PR allocation, PS allocation, ITL allocation, Y-bus allocation).
