Robust Fractional Order Sliding Mode Controller For Bldc Motor

This paper presents a Fractional Order Sliding Mode Controller (FOSMC) for Brush Less DC (BLDC) motor to improve the dynamic performance of BLDC motor. The proposedFOSMChas beendesigned and functioning based on fractional order integer calculus. In the implementation of FOSMC control law initially a fractional order Oustaloup filter isdeveloped and derivative applied to the output of the filter and given to signm function. The dynamic model of BLDC motor is simulated by using MATLAB-Simulink platform.The performance of the FOSMCis tested under constant torque mode, constant speed mode, by observing certain dynamic parameters such as overshoot and settling time. The performance evaluation of FOSMC is compared to Conventional PI controller.
