Effects of LTNE and periodicity of sinusoidal conditions on the conjugate natural convection in a square porous cavity

Abstract

The effect of sinusoidal boundary condition on conjugate natural convection in a local thermal non-equilibrium (LTNE) porous square cavity is studied numerically using the finite difference method. The left surface boundary of the square cavity has a sinusoidal temperature condition (partially heated and cooled), while the right surface boundary is heated at a constant temperature. Horizontal walls (top and bottom) are kept adiabatic. The Darcy law and Boussinesq approximation for the flow are assumed to be hold. The results of the current investigation are obtained for various parameters of periodicity parameter, thermal conductivity ratio and modified conductivity ratio. Numerical results are described graphically in the form of streamlines, isotherms and weighted average heat transfer. It is shown that the strength of the flow circulation is signifi-cantly enhanced with the relative non-uniform heating. Possible applications of the current results in heat-removal and heat-storage porous systems.
