Performance Analysis of Biodiesel Produced Using Wet Purification Method: A Review

Dr. Kamal Kishore Pathak
Abstract

Depletion of fossil fuel resources & environmental problem associated with its combustion has become a global threat. Being a renewable and sustainable fuel, biodiesel has attracted the attention of the researchers as an alternative of fossil fuels. Biodiesel production is an encouraging and consequential field of research. With the increase in prices of the crude oils and environmental benefits of biodiesel, it has the capability to become the fuel of future. The extent of pureness of biodiesel decides the fuel properties and its effect on engine performance. Consequently, purification is an inevitable step. Usually, two methods are recognized for the biodiesel purification, i.e., wet washing method and dry washing method. In this research, purification of biodiesel applying the method of wet washing is discussed and the effects of this purified biodiesel on engine power, economy, durability and emissions are analyzed and reviewed in detail.
