A Technique Based on Wavelet Transform for the Identification of QRS complex in ECG

Electrocardiogram is a vital indicator that indicates the significant information about a wide extent of cardiac illness. World Health Organization’s reports show that 30% death occurs due to cardiac abnormalities. Therefore it is necessary to develop powerful computational technique for the analysis of ECG. QRS complex detection is basic step for ECG signal processing. Wavelet transform provides a platform for the analysis of signal in time and frequency domain simultaneously. This paper shows that symlet-8 wavelet was giving the best response for QRS detection among their family. In the wavelet based calculations, thresholding likewise an essential parameter for acquiring the higher performance. 99.34% of sensitivity achieved by Rigersure type threshold. The testing of algorithm has been done on ECG information record of the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database.
