Regulation Pond As Flood Control System For East Side Of Makassar Caity

The terms of Regulation pond which will be discussed herein, will be functioning to store the water temporarily during heavy rain, and then to be flowing back into the river upon the rain passed the peak rate. This Regulation pond was located in the eastern part of Makassar city, of which were constructed completely by Jeneberang River Basin Development Project (JRBDP) in the year of 2000. This Regulation pond was located at the right side of Pampang river, exactly at the confluence with the Gowa drainage channel. If the Regulation pond was not constructed, for the purpose of flood control or to avoid any flooding, then it need very large hydraulic cross section of Pampang River to which it is impossible for land acquisition in the such urban area with very high density of settlement. The operating system of this regulation pond will be explained with the 2D drawing in the paper. The operation practice will be explained in several steps of various conditions
