This article provides a comparative analysis of literary works and their translations, one of the most important issues today. The phenomenon of cognitive dissonance, which occurs mainly in the translation of works, is also discussed in this article. Research in the field of world translation studies on this topic is studied and commented on. The lexicographical interpretation of the phenomena of dissonance, consonance and cognitive dissonance is also analyzed, and it is argued that this term is not included in Uzbek linguistic dictionaries. The first use of the term cognitive dissonance is the study of research in various fields, such as music, literature, translation studies, physics, and computer science.A comparative analysis of the cognitive phenomena observed in the translation of literary worksin this article we try to find out it’s causes. The research will develop ways to reduce and eliminate the phenomenon of cognitive dissonance in the translation process. Uzbek translations of works by French writers and French translations of works by Uzbek writers were selected. The texts from these works are analyzed by the method of contextual and encyclopedic analysis. When analyzing the translated works, attention is paid to the skills of the translator. The translator's language skills and background are also assessed.The nationalcultural words were analyzedand a short Uzbek-French dictionary was created and tested. This article can be used in research and analysis of the translation of literary works, as well as in the creation of textbooks and manuals.
