Activation Quality Function Deployment Technique using Robust Design: A case study

Purpose: the basic idea of the study is to determine the extent in which robust design contributes in activating the quality Function Deployment (QFD). The researchers considered investing QFD as a tool for introducing robust design (RD)and introducing appropriate mechanisms to translate the requirements of the company's customers into engineering specifications used in producing the final product which must be characterized by robustness.. Design/methodology/approach - The study opted for a case study method in presenting the theoretical bases of its subject. The study relied on a questionnaire as a main tool for obtaining information and used a number of statistical methods to test its hypotheses through the SPSS.V.23 package. complemented with on-site interviews with the engineers in the State Company for Electrical and Electronic Industries. The studyalso investigated the correlation and impact between RD and QFD in company Findings-The study concluded with a number of conclusions, most notably the existence of a significant positive correlation between the variables of the study at the macro level, this indicates the importance of the RD sub dimensions in activating the QFD. Practical implications-The paper includes implications for the development of Technical Assessment to identify products that can be re-produced. And give more attention to product research in order to find products suitable for reproducing them in accordance with the company's competitive position and to create educational programs that include lectures for awareness rising by specialists.
