Phubbing And Social Interaction: An Analysis of Smartphone Usage in Higher Education

An interesting phenomenon from the use of smart phones, especially among undergraduates, is the existence of ignorant behavior or known as pubbing.The purpose of this study was to examine the phubbing behavior as a result of the unwise use of smart phones among college students.The methodology used in this research is quantitative method. This study uses descriptive surveys of the population under study.The result of this research is a regression coefficient of 0.450 which means that every time an additional score of smartphone usage is used, it will be able to increase the variable of phubbing behavior.This paper concludes that there is an impact caused by unwise use on smart phones, causing phubbing behavior.
