The limited facilities and infrastructure, as well as the natural geographical conditions that do not support at the Port, will likely reduce the performance of the Port so that the services provided are not optimal. This condition will cause problems, namely the high waiting time at the Port, especially during busy conditions. The purpose of this study was to determine how much influence between waiting time and ship turn round time at the port of Bontang, as well as the efforts that can be made to overcome them. This type of research is quantitative. The samples used are vessels owned by PT. SSS. The data analysis technique used is correlation followed by determining the root of the problem using a fishbone diagram. The regression coefficient between waiting time and turn round time is 0.998. The length of waiting time at Bontang Port is due to inadequate human resources, lack of supervision, lack of budget for new facilities, and slow budgeting procedures. Improvement efforts that need to be done are (1) Providing punishment to workers when violating at the port, (2) Increasing the number of operational facilities at the port with an additional budget that has been prepared by the needs of the existing service workload, (3) Arranging the submission of giving a simpler budget so that budget transfers can be realized more quickly.
