Abstract

The scientific interest of the following article is aimed to explore the opportunities the United Kingdom achieves applying the abovementioned tool. Over the past five years the soft power of the UK has become one of the most powerful and influential in the world. However, there is a risk that its effectiveness will be diminished, caused by the British withdrawal from the EU. Taking into consideration markers that define the specific parameters for "soft power" ranking, we have made an attempt to forecast the further development of these indicators if the UK leaves the EU and compare them to those that could be provided in case the UK remains part of the European Union. The timeframe of the research covers a period from 2015 till 2035. To identify trends in the development of the definite indicators that influence the "soft power" of the state, we have studied the development of indicators in 2020, when the UK actual exit from the EU will take place, and in 2035, 15 years later. As the result of the presented study, we managed to prove the hypothesis that, after the UK's withdrawal from the EU, the "soft power" of the country might lose its effectiveness.
