The non-linear properties of semiconductor optical signal amplifiers and their work like a switch where these properties were used in the design of many optical gates that are used for high-speed optical processors. Where the connected deployment method was used to create MZI with SOA and it was done on the non-linear properties of (Cross-phase modulation) XPM and (Self-phase Modulation) SPM to obtain logical outputs that correspond to the real schedule of electric logic gates. Where this paper was divided into two sections, the first section was devoted to the study of the principle of the work of optical gates, their components and methods of dealing with them, and in the second section it specialized in designing and implementing the AND gate. In these gates, the phase difference between the interferometer arms is controlled by the optical input signal by the relationship between the carrier density and the refractive index in the SOA using XPM phase modulation.
