Reproductive Health of Kyrgyz Men Living in the Kyrgyz Republic

Abstract

All over the world, there has been a steady century-long tendency in the decline in the quality of men’s RH, which is an important component of the physical and emotional state throughout life. This tendency raises the questions on studying the reasons for the decline in quality on the one hand, and the need to determine the standards of protection in the new conditions on the other hand. RH of Kyrgyz men is currently the most important state task, since there unfavorable situation in the country on the backdrop of the economic and environmental crisis with a decrease in the birth rate and regressive change in population, an increase in maternal and child mortality. Increase in the number of patients with congenital and acquired uroandrological diseases due to HIV infection and STDs is alarming. The results were obtained by questioning 6730 male volunteers in the Kyrgyz population based on the draft Recommended General Health Assessment Toolkit EUROHIS (2010) in the author's development. An analysis of the self-esteem of the RH of male Kyrgyz showed that the medical and social characteristics of men living in the Kyrgyz Republic are manifested by such features as a young man of 27.8 ± 3.6 years old educated (67.3%) and working (75.5%) at work with harmful conditions (31.6%) and habits (92%), having children (90.3%), prone to obesity (BMI = 27.2), preferring meat, flour and dairy foods in combination with fast foods and Coca-Cola (48.9%), suffering from genital pathology (78.6%), with low medical awareness of RH (55.6%) and assessing their RH as satisfactory (47.2%), as well as those who do not trust doctors, but have to apply for medical aid (29.3%). The relevance of the study is due to the need to optimize the reserve and potential of RH for male Kyrgyz by developing clinical, social and cultural measures based on age-specific standards and quality criteria for reproductive health. In this regard, this article is aimed at identifying risk factors that negatively affect the RH of men in the Kyrgyz population. The main approach is the results of self-assessment of RH by men, which allow comprehensive consideration of measures to improve and preserve RH of men in the population. The article presents the results of the state of RH of men, discloses risk factors that worsen RH, and reveals the risks of worsening RH depending on age. The materials of the article are of practical value for the healthcare system, urologists and andrologists, as well as other specialties involved in the RH protection.
